Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 1 cup Nutella or hazelnut spread Room temperature
French Toast
  • 8 slices Brioche or challah bread Thick cut, about 1-inch thick
  • 4 Large eggs
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 2 tbsp Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted butter Divided for cooking
Serving
  • 0.25 cup Powdered sugar For dusting
  • Fresh berries or banana slices Optional
  • Maple syrup For drizzling

Equipment

Method
 

Prepare the Stuffed Sandwiches
  1. Spread 2 tablespoons of Nutella on 4 slices of bread. Top each with another slice to form sandwiches. Gently press edges to seal.
  2. Optional: Chill sandwiches for 10 minutes to firm up filling.
Make the Batter
  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
Cook the French Toast
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Dip each sandwich in batter, soaking 20-30 seconds per side.
  3. Cook 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crisp. Add more butter as needed.
  4. Keep warm in a 200°F oven if making batches.
Serve
  1. Dust with powdered sugar, add toppings, and serve hot.

Notes
